State Revenue Service (VID)
The State Revenue Service (VID) provides return migrants with consultations on the application of tax legislation:
- annual income tax return (submission, reporting of income, declaration of income earned abroad);
- personal income tax - taxable/non-taxable income (for example: whether a taxable personal income arises when transferring funds from a foreign account owned by the person to an account they own in a Latvian bank; which taxes must be paid in Latvia on foreign pensions; and in which cases the non-taxable minimum applies if both a foreign pension and a Latvian pension are received);
- whether a zero (asset) declaration must be submitted;
- reclaiming/refund of taxes paid abroad;
- change of residency status.
